Find duplicate media and review similar photos on Windows

Keep the copies you want. Make the decision before you change the collection.

Choose a manageable collection

Start with folders you recognize and keep a backup of important media. Media Compare & Organize analyzes selected media locally. Scanning does not move or delete files, and scans and result viewing are unlimited in the free plan.

Exact duplicates are verified by file contents. Similar photos are a separate kind of result: resemblance is a suggestion to review, not proof that two files are interchangeable.

Compare and decide what to keep

  1. Scan your selected folders and open the results.
  2. Review duplicate sets and choose the copies you want to keep.
  3. Use similar-photo previews to compare related images before making a decision.

The free plan supports cleanup of up to twenty duplicate sets per scan and three similar-photo previews per scan. Cleanup requires confirmation and requests the Windows Recycle Bin.

Preview an organized destination

You can also preview a folder structure before organizing media. Copy is the default; moving requires your choice and confirmation. Free organization handles up to one hundred files per job.

Lifetime Pro is a one-time Microsoft Store upgrade that removes the Free cleanup and organization limits and adds full similar-photo review, best-shot tools, preferred folders and remembered decisions. These tools support your review; they do not make similar-photo deletion automatic.

Local indexes and operation history can contain file paths. Clearing app records does not undo an earlier file operation. Review an organization plan and its destination before applying it.
